Lakes By Daniel Frohlich Published: June 14, 2006 PrintEmail
Date: June 14th, 2006 Band Member: Seth Roberts - Vocalist
Are you looking for a new home now that your term with Tooth And Nail is over? Can you drop a few label names you are looking into? Seth: Metal blade, and Rounder. What was your take on the little to no press on your last full length, Eager Seas? Seth: I don't know...I guess no one listened to it.
Do you think the video for "All Of Me" did justice to the song? And what is the song about? Seth: No...the message of the video and the look of the video has nothing to do with the song...and it was well made...but it looks real cheesy to me...with those little faries flying around. A lot of people are confused why the name change took place, can you explain that again? Seth: Well a lot of people have been confused for about a year now about all this stuff...we wanted to start a new band after watashi wa...and we kind of didn't...eager seas became an album title...and so we just wanted everything to be clear and start completly fresh...wherever I looked someone seemed to be confused about it all.
Why Lakes? Seth: My parents live in a community called the lakes..that's where I used to live..that's where me and my wife got married...that's where our studio is and where we record and practice. So it made sense...and has a lot of meaning to us...and its something simple and easy to remember.
To clear things up, what members from Eager Seas will be in the new group, Lakes? Seth: Well eager seas was me and Jason....on the album...and whoever could play/tour with us...so this band is me and jason too...plus Roger Tompkins...who played with me in watashi wa...and did eager seas demos with us...
What can we expect to see on your new EP? Seth: New songs...banjo, goat toe nails and seed pods.
Is there a possible tour in the works? Seth: We were trying to tour out to cornerstone...but we couldn't get it booked intime.
Will your songs take on a new direction from your last full length? Seth: Yeah its a little more rock..and a little more like a band feel.
What do you believe lies ahead for yourself and Lakes? Seth: Hopefully putting out great albums, touring...meeting people...being friends..
Thanks for answering all the questions Seth, anything you would like to add? Seth: Thanks for listening.
