Unsigned Feature: Fate Kills The Hero
What you see with Fate Kills the Hero: A photogenic group of young men, not afraid to be a little goofy. What you hear: As the songs off of “A Little Bit Louder” progress, you sense you are going to hear them slide in some common pop punk chorus, but they never do. They stay about as true to pop rock as you can with melodies and smooth guitar dominating.
Camaraderie is stressed as their fundamental principle, their friendship bonding their music, and effortlessly lightening up their rock intonations.
The Connecticut boys sound more mature than their just two years as a band would suggest and they seam to have found the secret to being a thriving band; to be nice to and respect each other. This prevailing attitude could push them passed the adversities bought by fame.
You guys have a cover for “I’m on a Boat”. Is that a song that you like to play live for the crowd to really get into?
Funny you ask, “I’m on a Boat” is fun for us to play but we can never tell if the crowd will enjoy it. As we play through a normal set of songs we ask them if they have ever heard of the song and if the reaction is good then we pull out all the stops performing it. Every time we do perform it the crowd is very involved and energetic.
What has been the Fate Kills the Hero’s biggest achievement to date?
As far as achievements, we are extremely proud of our full length record “A Little Bit Louder” and playing on Warped Tour.
You Played the Hartford, CT date of Warped Tour in July. How has that affected your career as a band?
Playing the Hartford, CT date was a wonderful success for us. The out pour of love from our fans put us on that date so it was even more wonderful to actually see them standing there clapping faithfully after every song. It gave us conformation that we are on the right path, and it’s made us push harder to improve and look for the next big thing.
What are your plans for 2009 and 2010?
We are currently writing a new EP with no set date. We do not want to rush the creativity. We are currently planning several short tours and looking to expand our exposure.
Your Bass player Justin is moving to Florida after his last show October 23rd how do you think this will affect the band in the future?
The loss of Justin will hit us in the bass world and on a personal level. We have begun training a new member by the name of Edgar who is filling in on bass and giving us out standing backup vocals. As far as our future is concerned, we are continuing on stronger than ever.
If you could jam with any artist who would it be?
Matt: Justin Timberlake and 30 Seconds to Mars
Doug: Thursday and RX Bandits
Edgar: Paul Mccartney
Adam: August Burns Red and Underoath
You guys seem to have a great bond. How do you think that translates in your music?
Because of our tight bond, we learn how to treat each other so that the music reflects the aspects of all the members. People can tell how you are emotionally as a group just by watching you perform on stage. When we perform our connection as friends is obvious and we have a ton of fun doing so.
What was your inspiration for your 11-track album “A Little Bit louder”?
Our inspiration musically and lyrically for the “A Little Bit Louder” record was life’s ups and downs. The experiences we all go through affect us on many different levels, and the album is an extension of those feelings. We enjoy watching our fans connect to the music and we want them to interpret it in any way as long as it means something to them.
Any Shameless Plugs go here:
We are currently working with our new management team on press kits and booking and look forward to the future with them. We’re going to be playing a lot of shows around CT in January and hopefully the spring touring will push us further out from our home town area.
